I've been designing landscapes that foster our connection with nature since 1985. I combine a background in biology, landscape architecture, and art, with a love of plants to create enduring designs. I value collaboration and each project receives thoughtful attention to your needs and vision in response to the site's unique qualities. Clients often tell me that they appreciate how we are able to transform their dreams into reality, in ways they hadn't imagined.
Reflecting a diversity of clients and locations, my projects have ranged in size and scope from postage stamp to sixteen acres, from seasonal color to complete master plans. I encourage the use of organic amendments and California native and Mediterranean plants to maximize soil health, increase pollination, and provide year round drought tolerant beauty for your home habitat.
Two avocations deeply inform my work. As a former chef, I have a special fondness for edibles and how to integrate them into my designs. My experience in environmental education has given me a sensitivity to how we interact with landscapes and brings to my designs an appreciation for indoor/outdoor living, a sense of wonder and tranquility.
Mindful of finite resources, I look for ways to recycle materials and use budgets wisely. My services range from hourly consultations and garden coaching to complete design, plans, installation and project management.
One of the great joys of my work is the ongoing relationship I have with clients and their gardens.
